These are critical times to create a strong and resilient economy and we will accomplish this only with your support! There are five ways that you can contribute to our success:

• Exchange fiat paper (US Federal Reserve Notes) for Gaian Silver

• Enroll as a barter member and agree to accepts Gaians

• Ask a local merchant/business if they would like to be part of the transition to local currency.

• Buy from the local merchants/businesses who accept Gaians and buy local!

• Become trained as Community Trade Coordinator.

Exchange

Each time you exchange a paper dollar to a Gaian you create greater stability and prosperity in our local economy. When you exchange to silver, the local currency creates a current that recirculates locally and that can't be spent at big-box retailers or exported easily to another continent.

Our Community Trade Coordinators can help you get rid of your debt paper and convert it into a spendable, trustworthy and beautiful local silver currency. Each Gaian you spend locally creates abundance and jobs in our community!

Enroll

Our website makes it easy to enroll as a barter member and provider of services to our community! You can set yourself up in a minute to start accepting Gaians and let more people know about the commitment your business is making to the local community.

You set the terms of how you accept Gaians as payment, how you give change and can offer special deals to members of your community who have made the commitment to shop locally.

If you are a local grower or producer who is locally owned and produces their products from a supply chain that is within Boulder County, you are eligible for buy-back of the Gaians if you so choose. Please contact your Community Trade Coordinator to set this program up.

Ask

Once you have Silver, it may be time to consider how you can begin to spend the Gaians inside our barter network. You are welcome to offer your alternative payment any place you patronize. Just be certain to disclose with the owner or management that the Gaians are a PRIVATE VOLUNTARY BARTER CURRENCY, and they are welcome to accept Gaians as payment if they knowingly and willingly choose to do so!

If you have a local business that you support regularly, consider asking them to join our network! Our website can provide resources and FAQ to answer basic question but we also have a team that can come and make presentations to businesses about encorporating Gaians in to payroll, accounting and taxes.

Buy

By buying locally, you help sustain the unique character and economic viability of Boulder while getting more purchasing power by using local currency. Each time you spend a Gaian, it continues to circulate around our community supporting a greater local self-sufficiency. It helps protect both the local environment and resource base so that economic activity doesn't damage the ecological base of the region.

In the age of internet shopping and global commerce, we need to give an edge to our local businesses. As our barter currency is an evolved agreement within the community to use something as a medium of exchange, new agreements can be created to solve local problems and strengthen the local economy.

Become

For those of us who are called to create a robust local economy, many of us realize that a local medium of exchange is crucial. We will be training individuals to become Community Trade Coordinators. We anticipate our model will be adopted by many other communities over the next year and we need help both in our county and in spreading the word.
